About the Festival

The Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival was established in 2007 as a one concert event.

Since then the festival grew year on year to become one of the largest bluegrass festivals in Ireland and one of the genre leading events in Europe.

As the reputation and popularity of the festival grew, we were able to book some of the biggest names within the industry and draw crowds from all over the world.

Although the past two years have been challenging and we have had to adapt to online events, our 2021 festival was particularly successful and brought unique elements to our festival.

We created a unique partnership with the world famous bluegrass venue - Station Inn in Nashville, TN and broadcasted 3 nights of music through their TV channel- Station Inn TV. This allowed us to build our brand and increase our global reach.

Our association with Station Inn and other leading organisations in the industry have positioned the festival ideally to draw headlining acts and bigger crowds from further afield.

Ever since the festival was first stage, to the current days, we have continued the develop our program and adjusted our format to the growing demand while maintaing the festival's core ethos of providing a warm and open atmosphere were everyone-all generations, cultures and walk of life, local and visitors - feel included and have fun.

We are looking forward to welcome musicians and music fans alike to a live and in person festival in June 2022.
