Clara Delfina & Haakon Oyen

Old-time and country western duo project from Floyd, Virginia. They are both influenced by a wide range of traditional music, making their performance a colourful platter of ballads, instrumentals, yodels, sea shanties and country songs.

Clara Delfina is an accomplished singer and fiddle player from Washington, DC, coming from a long line of traditional musicians. Her songwriting and instrumentation pulls timeless inspiration spanning archaic fiddle music to contemporary country-western.

Haakon Oyen is a multi instrumentalist, singer, and buck dancer (an Appalachian style of clogging) from North Carolina. He is well versed in song and dance from North America and has won fiddle, mandolin, and dance contests throughout the southeastern United States. Together, Clara and Haakon’s strong voices and complex harmony, paired with their talent as multi-instrumentalists, have a rich and powerful sound that beautifully encapsulates what is considered a golden era in American folk music.
