Evan is a 16 year old musician from outside Thurles in County Tipperary. Evan plays a variety of instruments with his main focus being on the 5 string banjo.
His interest in Bluegrass Music began at the age of 12 through watching clips of Lester Flat and Earl Scruggs among others, he has a passion for traditional, hard driving Bluegrass.
He began playing Banjo at the age of 12 and has steadily progressed since. During 2013 after only playing banjo for 6 months he performed for American “Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour” which was recorded live from the Convention Centre, Dublin. He has had the opportunity to study under the tuition of banjo greats such as Greg Cahill (Special Consensus) and Tony Trishka. In 2016 he was awarded a Young Banjo player Scholarship Award by the European Bluegrass Music Association. Over the last couple of years Evan has performed at most of the Bluegrass Festivals though out Ireland and was featured at the East Anglian Bluegrass Festival, UK in 2016. He currently fills in with bands in Ireland and had the opportunity to play the Omagh Bluegrass Festival in 2016 with “Woodbine”.
Evan hopes in the future to develop a career in music and continue his passion for the 5 string banjo and Bluegrass.
