Dave Kline, from Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, is an award-winning singer, songwriter/composer, musician, bandleader, entertainer, radio, TV, Podcast and event producer, music-historian, public speaker, and writer who has performed and traveled all over the world. He’s the producer and host of the weekly Mountain Folk radio and web show which has been on the air for the past 40 years featuring acoustic bluegrass, folk, mountain, Americana, old-time and Celtic music on various terrestrial radio stations, Internet stations, satellite radio stations and outlets such as the Apple iTunes Podcast Network and Podbean.
He also produces a world-music show called “Happiness” and a blues show called “Come On In My Kitchen”. Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band often perform what Dave refers to as “Roots Fusion” shows wherein he and the band blend early Scots-Irish musical influences with Appalachian Mountain hillbilly, old-time and bluegrass music. Dave and the band have performed all over the United States, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Italy. In honor of the Celtic roots of bluegrass and Appalachian Mountain music, Dave worked with the prestigious Martin Guitar Company to create a one of a kind custom dreadnaught guitar with Celtic inlay, hounds, vines, stars and moon. He uses it for special concert appearances. Through the years, Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band have frequently been on the same festival bill and have worked with the likes of Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Jesse McReynolds, Minnie Pearl, Grandpa Jones, Roy Clark, Vince Gill, Riders in the Sky, The Time Jumpers, Charlie Daniels, Jet Williams, Brenda Lee and many more. Bob Entler, from Temple, Pennsylvania, is the band’s mandolinist and has been Dave’s right hand player for the past 25 years. When Dave’s not singing lead with Bob on harmony, it’s Bob who mostly handles the lead work. Bob is an accomplished tradesman and carpenter who is very skilled in traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Along with Dave, Bob is an avid fishermen and outdoorsman.
Travis “The Mad Fiddler” Wetzel, from Nashville, Tennessee, is a champion fiddler who has been performing with Dave Kline on and off since the age of 12. Travis handles the fiddling on the majority of the recordings by Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band.
Dave Lewis, from Mount Penn, Pennsylvania, bassist, is an accomplished songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, guitar luthier, recording engineer and studio producer. He plays upright bass with Dave and the band, as well as plays lead guitar in Dave’s rock-a-billy band.
Conlan Kershner, from Adamstown, Pennsylvania, is a banjo prodigy who was inspired to take up the instrument by his grandfather who encouraged him to learn how to play by buying the young lad a banjo. A recipient of scholarship money for banjo lessons from the Dave Kline Mountain Folk Scholarship Fund, Conlan has blossomed into a player who is now studying music in college and aspires to become a member of the United States Navy’s Country Current touring bluegrass, country and Americana Band. Conlan has been honored for his playing skill at festivals such as Merle Fest and he has performed many large venue concerts with Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band. Conlan was invited on this tour to County Mayo and the Westport Bluegrass Festival by Dave Kline as a way to enhance Connor’s musical education and live concert experience and resume.
