The Pond (USA)
Hailing from the rolling Palouse hills of Idaho, The Pond is as much a songwriting collective as it is a progressive bluegrass band. Fusing traditional and jamgrass sensibilities with the folk and psychedelic influences that permeate the band, The Pond creates deeply original music that happens to be the springboard for extended improvisation.
Formed expressly as a chance to branch away from playing standard bluegrass, brothers John (mandolin) and Nick (guitar) Brunsfeld, their cousin Sam Schumacher (banjo), and bassist Adrian Crookston combined forces to share songwriting responsibilities and forge a style of bluegrass distinctly their own.
Without sacrificing any of the bounce and hot picking that bind them, The Pond play bluegrass on their own terms.
