- The Creel
On Friday at the Holy Trinity Church we will once again present a concert of traditional American and Irish folk music.
We will feature three acts all connected by a common immersion in the old rural American string band tradition. These three acts will once again symbolise a musical bridge across the Atlantic featuring old time string band music from America, and the UK.
The Horsenecks play hard-hitting and heartfelt Old Time and classic Bluegrass music, brought to life with the high-energy performance of a group of people who love the music they play. The four members formed a strong musical bond after meeting at a festival in 2012. With driving old time fiddle, three-finger banjo, four part harmonies, and a love of the lost art of Old Time music they have since been swiftly becoming a well-loved staple in the traditional music scenes in the US and the UK.
Gabrielle Macrae - fiddle
Barry Southern - banjo
Chris Marshall - bass
Alan Write - guitar
Jock Tyldesley and Vera van Heeringen play Southern Appalachian tunes, songs, fiddle and banjo breakdowns and old-time country music, as well as traditional Cajun music and original songs and tunes. Both have toured and collaborated with artists such as The Dirk Powell Band, Rayna Gellert, Balfa Toujours, Eddie LeJeune and Martha Scanlan, and formed half of acoustic country and old-time outfit Sugar Moon. Vera and Jock were also members of The New Rope String Band, a long-standing comedy tour-de-force of the international folk scene.
Everyone has fun at a Fox and Branch show. That has been the duo’s guiding principle for the past two decades, Dave Fox and Will Branch from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, strive to create a communal atmosphere of fun and high spirits wherever they play. A Fox and Branch show is as much a celebration of being together as it is a musical performance.
